Just Amiga Monthly

Just Amiga Magazine, "JAM", was the creation of Jeff Walker — a former butcher and sometime minicab driver based in the Hillingdon area of west London, who had previously founded WACCI, a hobbyist magazine for the Amstrad CPC. The JAMDisk collection archived here is the companion floppy disk series that accompanied the magazine — freely distributable, and quite separate from the paper publication itself.

JAM billed itself as "The World's Most Black-And-White Amiga Magazine" — a tongue-in-cheek reference to its no-frills appearance, which stood in deliberate contrast to the glossy commercial titles on the newsstand. It was never a newsstand magazine anyway: subscription-only, it covered the serious side of Amiga programming, design, and hardware as opposed to gaming, and was produced entirely on an Amiga - a point of pride the magazine made sure to advertise on its back cover every issue. The title was sometimes also known informally as "Jeff's Amiga Magazine" — which at least tells you something about the publication's cheerfully personal character. It was very much one enthusiast's passion project.
